The term “point of view” in the modern critical approach: a descriptive theoretical study

This thesis aims to address one of the categories of modern narrative theory، The “Point of View” is closely related to the “Narrator” and the technique he utilizes in storytelling. The narrators’ styles in telling a story and forming its structure are different. This difference is the cornerstone of the narrator’s knowledge and upon which the distance between him and the characters, his functions – that integrate with the other elements of the story: the dialogue, the description.The research is based on seven pivotal steps:

1- Historical reference to the term

2- The narrative reference to the term

3- The opinions of some theorists about the term in modern criticism

4- The narrator in storytelling

5- Factors that determine the narrator’s features and creative ability

6- Narrator functions

7- Types of narrators

يهدف هذا البحث إلى التطرق إلى إحدى مقولات نظرية السرد الحديثة، والتي تتمثل في مبحث “وجهة النظر” Point of view. ويرتبط هذا المبحث بالرواي Narrator، وأسلوبه في العرض، حيث يتباين الرواة في طرائق تركيب المادة القصصية وتشكيلها وصياغتها الفنية، ومن هذا التباين تنشأ معرفة الراوي وتتحدد المسافة التي تفصله عن شخصياته، كما تتحدد وظائفه التي تتكامل مع سائر عناصر العمل القصصي من حوار ووصف وعرض وتصوير وغيره .

ويرتكز البحث على سبع وقفات محورية هى :

1. المرجعية التاريخية للمصطلح.
2. المرجعية السردية للمصطلح.
3. آراء بعض المنظرين حول المصطلح في النقد الحديث.
4. الراوي في السرد القصصي.
5. عوامل تحديد معالم الراوي وقدرته الإبداعية.
6. وظائف الراوي.
7. أنواع الرواة.
